Last Post of 2011: Jimmy Choo Coffee Sleeve!

Many people usually say, there is no point to spend money on Porsche Design pen, Ferrari watch or Bentley iPad case! From one point of view, this is right. These products have higher prices due their brand, not based on their functionality. I totally understand this interpretation.

And now, people who complain about Porsche Design or Ferrari store products; tell me what you think about a leather coffee sleeve by Jimmy Choo. This superb product offers to insulate the heat generate by the coffee and transferred to your hand through a leather cover. In normal conditions, every coffee shop provides free sleeve made from paper. However, some people thought this is not showing my style and my wealth. And started to look for other alternatives. As Jimmy Choo realised this opportunity and released a stylish, expensive and a bit pointless leather coffee sleeve!

Excellent gift idea, if you want to buy something from Jimmy Choo!

Porsche Design or Ferrari store are not alone anymore!

If you want to buy!

No Comment: Porsche Police Fleet

Today in many website you might have seen this video. The police fleet of Qatar! Unlike any other nation, Qatar decided to use Porsche Panameras and Cayennes as the police vehicles! Interestingly, even German police does not have this luxury.

Car of the Day #42 Aston Martin Virage

Not my favourite! Because, it is impossible to distinguish any Aston Martin model from each other!

Aston Martin Shoes by Sabelt :/

Just show a photo of an Aston Martin to a random person and ask how it looks like? %99 the response will be amazing, spectacular, beautiful and similar synonyms. So, there is not point to argue about the attractiveness of Aston Martin design concept. However, I will argue about the Sabelt Aston Martin shoes.

Sabelt is a company, which supplies racing gloves, clothes harnesses, steering wheels and seat belts comply with FIA regulations. Basically, Sabelt is a business does not involve with normal consumers like us! Unfortunately, Aston Martin skipped this point and decided to introduce Sabelt Aston Martin racing shoes. If you were thinking the Cygnet was a disaster, you haven’t seen these shoes!

In my opinion, these shoes shouldn’t be named under Aston Martin brand. They look fine for racing but not looking fine for daily use. I was expecting to see shoes that have common design clues with Aston Martin cars like Porsche and Porsche Design. These shoes do not have the essence of an Aston Martin.

When a company introduce merchandise to enlarge their consumer target, they should construct a bridge between the cars and the merchandises; like Ferrari or Porsche. Otherwise, it is just sticking their brand to an another product that has nothing to do in common. The design philosophy should be transferred to merchandise products to sustain a long-term consumer loyalty to merchandise store. Otherwise, consumers will buy it once and they will shift to another brand.

If you want to buy them here is the store!

Frank Stephenson

A few hours ago, I found some interviews with Frank Stephenson on YouTube. If you don’t know Frank, I am sure you know his designs; BMW X5, Mini, Maserati MC12, Maserati Quattroporte, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 612, Fiat 500, McLaren MP4-12C and many other cars. In my opinions, he will be remembered as one of the most influential car designer in his era. Especially his interpretation of the new Mini and new Fiat 500 are the most remarkable cars of this century, and never getting old Quattroporte!

We will find more about him on these interviews. And additional information to his Wikipedia page, he stayed in Istanbul, Turkey for six years!

Michelin Bibendum and High Heeled Women Shoes !?!

Today I was looking for the Bibendum on Google Image Search. You just type Bibendum and click to Images on bar top of the screen and it shows you the photos or pictures related with that keyword. Guess what happened? The shoes manufacturer Kurt Geiger released new shoes called Bibendum!

I was really shocked! Bibendum is a trademark of Michelin Tyres. And it is one of the well-known symbols. And I thought, may be Bibendum means something else and I did some research. The result? Nothing! It is the name of Michelin Man and it was introduced in 1894! Quite earlier than the Kurt Geiger shoes!

Honestly, I would not recommend ladies to buy these shoes. Because, Bibendum is associated with fat man inflated with air and represents a tyre brand. When I see a lady wearing these shoes, I would remember the fat inflated guy, sorry!

As you can see, branding is very critical. One mistake may alter the perception from sexy to faty! I really wish to hear from Kurt Geiger and Michelin about this naming incident :) Interestingly, shoes are made from leather, no rubber at all!

If you still wish to buy, here are the links:

Hottest Range Rover Evoque!

I don’t like to mention about these news but as it appeared on social media, I felt a need to mention. Recently, a brand new Range Rover Evoque caught fire in Dubai. And it was taken to video while it happens.

Whenever a car catches fire, all the media starts to talk about the reliability. However, in most of the cases the fire incident only happened once with that particular vehicle. Therefore, I never like to generalise these incidents with the brands!

Regarding to this incident, Land Rover did not make any official comments and I am sure that, they are investigating the incident. If you are planning to buy a new Range Rover Evoque, please do not get influenced by the video on YouTube. When there is no explanation of the incident and it is just a video, don’t take it that serious. We cannot know what happened to that vehicle, or what was going on the high way. There are millions of possibilities, which can cause this incident. Just know that, every modern car manufactured today is reliable and survives from millions of tests before it is sold on dealer. In worst case, if there is a problem due to design or manufacture, company will resolve the problem! There are many proofs in automotive history for this ;)

In order to cheer up your mood for this bad incident, I found a very funny footage from Family Guy :)

2nd Year

I totally forgot one thing on Sunday, it was the 2ndyear of my blog! I know I shouldn’t have done it, hopefully blog does not have chance to moan about this :)
Since two years, I received 51.508 readers from 172 different countries and read 80.289 pages, each pages consist of four posts! Since 2009, my average reader rate is 70.37. My top readers are from USA, UK, Turkey, India and Greece. Also I received two readers from Greenland! These numbers may not be as high as fashion blogs but I am concentrated on a niche segment, therefore my readers are niche as well!

Google’s organic searches diverted 21.811 readers to my blog. This means, people searched for something and they end up in my blog :) Passat CC, Bugatti Veyron, Lacoste, Apple iPad and Tata Nano are the top five keywords lead to readers to my blog!

Nearly all major automotive manufacturers and many automotive related companies read my blog since 2009. The most surprising one was the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as known as NASA!

Thank you!

BMW X6 M50d

BMW released another footage for their new diesel powered X6 M model. According to dialogue during the footage, the M Division team signals a new chapter for the M! As they are not planning to release another petrol fuelled engine, they mention about the new X6 M50d model!

Is this the first performance diesel? No! Mercedes introduced C30 CDi AMG Sportcoupe in year 2002 and failed! Petrol was cheap, so nobody paid attention to a diesel powered sport car.

If you are bored with X6 M diesel thing, you may watch the Net-A-Porter’s interview with shoe design Christian Louboutin. He is extra ordinary like BMW X6!

New Mercedes SL (R231)

Finally we have the new Mercedes SL (R231) ! After waiting for nine years, the new SL is now available. And as I expected, the new SL follows the patterns of its design DNA. According to photos, matte is now available with the new SL!

Hopefully the new SL is 300kg lighter to preceding model. As you might know SL is the abbreviation of super light in German. But exciting models were not that close to super light category!

Like always, it is the best-looking Mercedes! Each new SL makes the other vehicles looks ugly, sorry!

Bentley Continental GT V8

Smell of diesel, sorry I was going to write new twin-turbo V8 engine for Bentley Continental GT and GTC. Finally, Bentley revealed the information about the new V8 engine. It will be producing 507PS and 660nm of torque and also can switch of four cylinders to save fuel. And features 8-speed auto gearbox. The W12 model offers 575PS with 6-speed auto and this makes the W12 pointlessly expensive. I think, they will revise this engine soon or they are supposed to revise!

For diesel smell, as the Bentley changed the strategy and offers smaller engines. This story may end up with a diesel, which is supported by the rumours as well. I hope they won’t do this and focus on hybrid models for better fuel efficiency.

And how to identify V8 Bentley?

"The new V8 engine will be available in two models; the Continental GT and the Continental GTC. Expressing their potent, muscular character, these models are distinguished by a black gloss matrix grille with chrome frame and centre bar, a red enamel Bentley ‘B’ badge, and a black matrix three-segment lower front bumper divided by distinctive body-coloured strakes."

People who find the 5 Series boring and serious; and consider the 6 Series does not have the adequate number of doors. Eventually, having trouble to find an appropriate car from BMW.
